Welcome to Alexandria Research! My name is Rebecca Dodd and I am the owner and operator of this exciting information enterprise. While I am highly experienced in qualitative, quantitative and literature searching and synthesis, I am new to WordPress, so please be patient as the site is a work in progress and is likely to remain so for some time.
I have worked in an eclectic range of different research fields and established this company to bring together all of my varied experience into a single business. I’ve recently wandered into User Research and bring my librarian and information skills to this profession, whether in terms of performing background literature searches or in organising, tagging and cataloguing previous research projects. In terms of my past experience, I have worked as a librarian and information professional in education, universities, policy and in health, medicine and social care, as well as the arts and culture. I’ve studied statistics and used them in practice, and am always developing my knowledge of the best ways to analyse data. Professional development is very important to me, and I have achieve a PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP Foundation and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and am currently undergoing training in Agile.
However, I started out life as a Classicist, completing my PhD on Seleucid coins, and later moving on to research the reception of the ancient world on modern Middle Eastern money. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I chose to name my company after the Great Library of Alexandria, which was one of the earliest and most important libraries and information centres, although it is unfortunately known for its possible destruction at the hands of Julius Caesar in 48 B.C. E.
